Privacy Policy

This SSR view mirrors the in-app Privacy Policy (PrivacyPolicyPage.tsx) verbatim for AI assistants and search crawlers. The in-app version at the live URL renders the same text with site styling. Keep the two in sync when either changes.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number when you register.
• Profile information: Bio, influences, instruments, skills, genres, DAWs, profile photo, and external music links that you choose to provide.
• Content: Audio files (WAV, MP3, AIFF, FLAC, M4A, AAC), stems, mixes, and other files you upload to the Service.
• Usage data: How you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and timestamps.
• Audit logs: Records of every file download, play, and access event — including the timestamp, user identity, IP address, and user-agent — kept for copyright protection.
• Payment information: When you purchase a paid subscription, we collect your billing address and the card type and last four digits. Your full card details are entered directly with Stripe and are not received or stored by us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Create and manage your account
• Facilitate collaborations between music creators
• Communicate with you about the Service, including security alerts and support messages
• Contact you regarding copyright, intellectual property, or terms of service concerns
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

3. What We Will Never Do

• We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
• We will never sell, license, or commercially exploit your content (audio files, stems, mixes).
• We are committed to an ad-free experience. We do not currently display advertisements on the Service and have no plans to do so.
• We will never share your mailing address or phone number with other users or third parties, except as required by law or to enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Information Visible to Other Users

The following information is visible to other users of the Service:

• Display name, profile photo, and bio
• City and country (derived from your address, not your full mailing address)
• Instruments, skills, genres, and DAWs
• External music links
• Uploaded tracks and collaborations

The following information is never shown to other users: your email address, phone number, full mailing address, and password.

5. Why We Collect Your Address & Phone Number

musiciansXchange is a platform for sharing original audio content. Under copyright law, we have a responsibility to ensure that content shared on our platform does not infringe on the rights of others. We collect your mailing address and phone number so that:

• We can contact you if a copyright or intellectual property concern is raised about content you have uploaded
• We can respond to valid legal processes (e.g., DMCA takedown notices, court orders)
• We can verify your identity in connection with terms of service enforcement

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure password hashing, two-factor authentication, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except for records we are required to retain for legal compliance purposes (e.g., copyright dispute records).

Audit logs are the exception: they exist as copyright evidence and their entries are never deleted. They persist beyond account deletion — with the personal identifiers within them removed — and remain even if the audio content they reference is later removed from the Service.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain processing of your information

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

10. Service Providers

We share limited personal information with service providers who process it on our behalf, including Stripe, Inc. for payment processing. These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us, and not for their own purposes.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
